School Council

Purpose

Recognizing the need to improve communication and participation of parents and the community in the management and operation of local schools, the General Assembly of Georgia and the Burke County School District believe parent and community support is critical to the success of students and schools.  The intent is to bring communities and schools together in a spirit of cooperation to solve different education problems, improve academic achievement, provide support for teachers and administrators, and bring parents into the school-based decision-making process.

The School council will provide advice, recommendations, and represent the community of parents and businesses.

The School Council is comprised of parents, community members, teachers, and the Principal.  They meet a minimum of four times during the school year to discuss the operation and progress of our school and to make recommendations for continuous school improvement.
